Goodbye Sweet Friend

It's with sad eyes I witnessed the photos showing the fire at the Sarris Candy store in Cannonsburg, Pa. this morning. Anyone who knows chocolate, who loves chocolate and ice cream will be sad to hear of the fire at the store this morning. No one was hurt, thankfully, but 200 people are out of jobs as a result of the fire that appears to have pretty much gutted a good part of the store. I hipe and pray that they will be able to rebuild. This could be such a loss for that community. It has been a standing joke among my sisters and mother that our vehicle automatically gets off I-79 in Cannonsburg and heads directly to the Sarris Candy store anytime we travel that highway. Mom has to have her peach or butter pecan ice cream. I lust after the malted milk balls. My sisters loves the fudge and chocolate covered caramels. Anything chocolate will do. We would spend some time perusing the other candies sold there as well. A friend, Judy, raved about their nonpareils. Ask anybody about Sarris, and they will tell you their favorites.
